There is something amiss

My co-worker is a diehard Cowboys fan. I'm Eagles all the way. They played this weekend, and my Eagles did not come out on top. So my co-worker brought in her Cowboys hat to replace my Eagles hat for a week. It just doesn't look right. Thankfully, we are out of school until Thursday. School is cancelled tomorrow thanks to "Ida," and Wednesday is Veterans' Day. So I only have to look at that hat until Friday, and then sanity will be restored!

Good morning!

There's a hurricane coming! I think this is the latest I've
experienced one. It's headed our way and expected to bring a lot of
rain. School today...but maybe a day off tomorrow!

Good morning!

We made it through the night in the tent. T. Willy didn't toss or
turn. He had layers of clothes and blankets and stayed warm. I did
not. Usually I plan better. However, T. Willy had such a blast when
he woke up this morning that it warmed me right up. He went into the
house to get "breakfast" which was a bag of marshmallows. That's not
our regular breakfast fare, but it was okay today because we were out
too late last night to do s'mores.

The picture is of TW climbing through the "doggy" door of the tent.
He was in and out all morning.

Fun at the Fair

We had a great time at the fair. MK and her friends ran around, and
T. Willy hung around with me. When it was over we stopped at the Big
Man's restaurant for hot chocolate. He lit the fireplace just for
us. Now we're going home for the campout. T is exhausted, so I
predict he will go right to sleep. Sweet dreams!

MK in the parade

Parade Time!

We had to drop MK off an hour before the parade was to start, so T.
Willy and I found our place to sit, and we're waiting. We knew we'd
have time to wait, so I let him get a soda. He doesn't drink a lot of
soda, and his Dr. Pepper has given him some pep. He's running laps
behind me, but he's having fun, and I'm sitting in the shade; it's all
good!

MK: flag girl

Does 5:46 really count as sleeping in?

It really doesn't, but I'm wide awake. We only have one thing to do
today. MK is marching with the band in the Veteran's Day parade.
It's her first parade with the high school. Then she has the
Homecoming parade on Friday. After last night, our playoff hopes are
probably over, so the football season will likely end Friday.

T. Willy and I are going to set up the tent today and sleep in it
tonight. Our social calendar has largely revolved around football, so
it's time for him to get to do something. MK and I talked about
renting a movie tonight, so that's pretty much our plan for the day.
The Big Man is working his last late night for awhile. We may
actually get a normal schedule for a couple of weeks...or as normal as
ours gets.

How T. Willy watches football:

It started out really well, but it didn't end in our favor. We still
had a great time. T. Willy didn't last. He was worn out. MK has a
sore throat, so she didn't have as much fun as usual. I'm riding the
bus home and hoping the kids are tired and quiet. Veterans' Day
parade tomorrow, but there's a chance I can sleep in first!

More cowbell....

We are at the game. This one means a lot, and we're the underdog (no
pun intended.) They gave away cowbells to help us cheer our Dawgs on.
I hid mine, but T. Willy got ahold of it anyway. My ears will be
ringing, but if we win, it will be worth it! Go, Dawgs!!

Two bands practicing together

It's a boot day

Today is going to be a long one. We have a pep rally, and, after
school, we immediately report to the band room and get on the buses to
head to an away game. It isn't that far away, but the bands are doing
a combined performance, and they are eating dinner together as well as
performing. We only have one game left. It's next week and Homecoming.

So I won't get to see T. Willy and the Big Man until much later
tonight, but I'll get to be there for MK, and that makes it worthwhile.

Happy News!

My cousin posted on Facebook that his daughter's recent scans showed no signs of cancer! This is wonderful news! Our prayers are with them along with the hopes that she never has to deal with this again!

My momma said...

"Just go to school, listen to your teachers, and do your work."

That is something one of my students said today. Good advice. She
was saying this because I had my first confrontation with a student. I
think it went okay. There was no bleeding involved, and I stood my
ground, but for a non-confrontational person such as I am, it was a
bit uncomfortable. Whew.

I was very happy to come home to a quiet house. The Big Man is working
late again, and MK has band, so I think T. Willy and I will drop her
off and head to the library...not too exciting, but after my
afternoon, it will be very welcome.

Always a Phan!

So the Phillies didn't win back to back World Series, but it was a great run, and I'm so proud to be a "Phan!"

Good neighbors

On Wednesdays, T. Willy's school has early release. Our neighbor
watches him after he gets off the bus until we get home. She watches
two little girls in addition to her own two kids, and today a few
neighbor kids were there too. They were all playing outside, so MK
and I joined them. We had so much fun! Our husbands are both working
late tonight, so we didn't have to hurry home. I put a chicken in my
new crock pot this morning, so dinner was taken care of, and we were
able to relax.

The kids played football, used sidewalk chalk, played baseball and
raked leaves and jumped in the piles. What a fun day!

One of the little girls is "Sunny." She and T. Willy get along
especially well. MK snapped this picture of them together talking and
playing in the leaves.

Tonight's menu: Comfort Food

Using THE cookbook, I tried two new recipes tonight...a bonus is that
I made so much that I probably won't have to cook tomorrow!

I used my new Dutch oven to make a big pot of chili. Chili is not my
thing, even on cold nights, but this may have made me a believer. It
was wonderful. The second dish was macaroni and cheese. It wasn't
quite as good as I was hoping, but it was certainly edible.
So here are pictures. Perhaps I need a new hobby.

An accidental picture.

I mentioned to MK this morning that I needed a picture of her. She
said that I should just go ahead and take one. So I did while she
wasn't looking, and I think it turned out well!

Catch a tiger by his...

Tail. I always said toe, but T. Willy says tail. Here is his
attempt to spell, "Eeny, meeny, miny, mo."
