A little experiment

Roasted Circus Peanuts: We were roasting marshmallows and wondered, since they are marshmallow-like, how circus peanuts would be roasted. The verdict is: not unlike roasted marshmallows. And, because it wouldn't be me otherwise...here are pictures.

Thursday

Shannon and I took our younger kids to Xbos today. We had a great day. Summer and T. Willy haven't played together very much, and he acted really shy when they saw each other before, but today they did great. They ran and climbed and laughed. It was a wonderful day. So, here are some pictures.

Then we stopped at Shannon's house to see the girls' new playhouse. It is so adorable! It is beautifully landscaped and decorated inside perfectly for two girls! And my favorite part? A porch swing! T. loved it. He said, "Summer, you have two houses!"

Granddad's spaghetti

A highlight of every visit with my parents is my dad's spaghetti. We all look forward to it. He started a pot this morning, and we could smell it simmering all day. Around 11:00, T. Willy was already asking for it.

Finally we were able to eat. Here are some pictures of it. My mom isn't in them, because she had a kitchen mishap and was lying down. She is still in pain, so we are now letting her rest.

We were home from the movie around 3:30 a.m. The kids slept in, but I was up at 7:00, after staying up till 4:45 to try to resolve an issue with my mom's phone. I finally had success with the phone this afternoon, and I was pretty excited to have it behind me. We had a quiet day and are looking forward to another fun day tomorrow. We head back to Florida on Saturday, so this has been a nice long trip.

Hello

Today was a fun day, by far the busiest of the trip. Shannon and I went shopping first. She found a really cute dress for me, and I can't wait to wear it. We went out to lunch, then Dairy Palace, of course. Could you be more tired of hearing about it? Sorry...there's more. Then we came home and sat on the front porch and talked for a long time.

When Shannon left, I took a nap. I'm going to see the Harry Potter movie with the kids tonight at 12:05, so I just thought some rest would help. I'm a night owl, but I'm not as young as I used to be.

After my nap, I immediately got up and went to my niece's basketball game. Her team didn't win, but she had 12 of the 16 points scored for her team.

And after the game? Seriously, we went back to Dairy Palace. I'm wondering if I should have packed a pair of pants with an elastic waist! But it was good, and I'm not sorry.

So, here is some of the day in pictures:

T. and my parents.

And here is Dairy Palace.

T. and his very drippy cone

My sundae - actually a small.

And that's it! We're just hanging out until the movie. I have neither read the books nor seen any of the movies, but I'm still looking forward to it. The theater is showing it on 10 screens, and they're all sold out. We bought our tickets online, so I'm hoping it all goes smoothly. Have a great night!

Oh...It's Chuck E. Cheese...

That is what MK discovered today. Apparently she thought it was Chuckie Cheese. T. Willy mentioned that he wanted to go there, so my mom made plans to take him, MK and my nephew. When it came time to leave, T. Willy did not want to go, so my mom took the other 4 grandkids, all teenagers. They had a blast. So here are some pictures of that:

T. Willy stayed home with my dad and me. It was sub night. Here is my roast beef sub. They're huge, so I had one half for dinner, and I'll have the other half another day.

I haven't been to Dairy Palace yet, but I have plans to go with Shannon tomorrow! I sing its praises, but it isn't actually a palace at all. It's a simple stand that has been here for as long as I can remember. It has 2 walk-up windows, and the most delightful treats. It's the place Little League coaches take their teams after games; it's the best place to meet up with friends or to take a date. It holds many memories for me, and I actually may cheat and take the kids tonight...we're still debating.

So that's it for now. If we go to DP tonight, I'll take pictures...I'm just trying to get the kids to pay!

What's up.

We're still having a good time in Delaware. The Big Man is working a lot at home, but it would have been nice if he had come. Tomorrow is his only day off this week.

Today was church. I saw a friend there that I haven't seen in 15 years or more. It was so great to catch up with her for a little while. Facebook has been a big help with that; it didn't seem like it had been that long. The family ate lunch together, then I took MK and my niece to a movie. We saw "My Sister's Keeper." MK and I had read the book, but as often happens, they changed things around. We still enjoyed it. MK is very sensitive and sobbed at one part. She was embarrassed, but it just showed her tender heart.

We played board games tonight and then watched some tv together. I'm going to post some pictures and then lie down to read. Have a great night!

T. Willy sleeps

I have a similar picture of MK, but she's old enough to protest.

We're here!

Our flights were smooth and timely, and it's been a great day! My brother picked us up from the airport and took us to lunch. We had a fun time, and then he brought us home. We spent the day at my parents' house although they didn't arrive until about 11 p.m. Now everyone that should be here is here, and it's time for bed.

A picture that shows all is well in the world, and my mom doesn't disappoint:

And here is a picture of T. Willy in his cool pjs. We call this the Rob Petrie, aka Dick Van Dyke look.

Good night!

First leg

The Big Man dropped us off at the airport. We are checked in and waiting at our gate. The kids were up early, 4:15, but they're in good moods and ready for the next adventure. The Big Man pointed out that we'll be in the states where we were all born. T. was born here in Florida. MK was born in North Carolina, and our connecting flight is out of Charlotte. We fly into Philly, and the Big Man was born in PA, then it's a short drive to Delaware where I was born. I guess these are the things you think about at 4:30 in the morning.

So that's it for now.
